I try to bring a piece of found nature into a space

When we are caught up in what is right in front of us, it is easy to forget that the Earth quietly repeats the drama of sunrise and sunset every day, or that Tokyo, just a few hundred years ago, was a city of water where boats were one of the primary means of travel. Spending our days inside reinforced concrete buildings, I even forget the airflow and scent of the old farmhouse where I grew up—built mainly of wood and paper.
At times, it can feel as though nature exists only in moments when we step away from daily life: climbing distant mountains, going to the sea, or stopping altogether. Yet without withdrawing from life like a hermit, I find myself wondering whether it is possible to create spaces where we can sense nature and time while continuing to live our everyday lives. With these thoughts in mind, I create works using paper and woodblock printing.
